This is our native Yarrow, also referred to as Western or Common Yarrow.  So if you're working on your backyard habitat certification, we highly recommend adding this to your garden!

Yarrow is super easy to care for, in fact we find that it thrives on neglect, easily growing in poor soil conditions.  It attracts so many beneficial insects, such as hoverflies, lady beetles and parasitic wasps.  Yarrow has medicinal properties, is resistant to deer, enriches the soil, is a great permaculture plant...we could seriously go on and on about the many benefits to growing yarrow!

Yarrow actually grows better in poor soil - you can grow it in your garden beds but if there's too much organic matter, the plants will become leggy.  Beautiful, but leggy.  Plants thrive in full sun.
