Bred by Dr. James Baggett of Oregon State University, this Honeyboat delicata produces shorter and fatter fruits that are 1-2 lbs with copper skins and green stripes, a bit different than the typical pale yellow with green stripes that you'd see in say, the Zepplin delicata.

This particular variety is incredibly sweet in flavor (hence the name Honeyboat) and stores very well.  So to recap, she's sweet & brighter colored like honey, and stores really well!  The short fat body bodes well because it stuffs like a boss, making delicata "boats".

We love Honeyboat Delicata in all the ways - steamed, roasted, baked, sauteed, grilled.  The thin skin can also be eaten!  Really, this variety is an absolute gem and we can't recommend it enough!

Plants grow in a bush habit and would make a great contender in a Three Sisters Garden.  Make sure you plant in full sun with well-draining fertile soil.  A well balanced fertilizer can be added to the planting hole to get the party started.
