Summer Squash, Odesa
Summer Squash, Odesa

Likely named after the city of Odesa (Одеса), a bustling port city on the Black Sea in Ukraine, Odesa is a “cousa” type: a summer squash typical to the Middle East with pale green speckled flesh and a bulbous blossom end. Like others of its type, Odesa has a very thin skin and exceptionally creamy flesh, slightly sweeter than other types of summer squash.
Basically, Odesa is like your typical zucchini except shorter, stockier and sweeter. We love Odesa for all things, especially zoodles!!!
Plants are vigorous growing with a bush habit and super productive. If you're planting multiple squash plants in your garden this year, we recommend allowing 18-24" between each plant, remember that better airflow reduces the likelihood of pests and disease. Plants thrive best in full sun, in evenly moist, well-balanced fertile soil. Add a boost of fertilizer at planting to get your plants off to a great start.
