Transylvanian Salvia is a favorite perennial bloomer for us. It's drought-tolerant once established, cold hardy and blooms a long time!!! Great for your edible landscape, parking strip, cut flower/cottage garden, really anywhere that you want some pretty blue violet blooms. The pollinators love it!
This variety produces large, heavily textured rosettes of bright green foliage and deep violet/blue spikes of that classic "lobster claw" shaped salvia blooms. This is a lobster claw that doesn't pinch!
Transylvanian Salvia grows to 30" across and 24-30" tall. Plants are pretty sturdy and don't generally require staking, in our experience. Thrives in full sun with well-draining soil, and pretty low maintenance once established. Blooms first year and thereafter! We've pinched the seedlings to encourage branching (yay!).
- Days to Maturity: 75
- Companion Plants: Cosmos, Echinacea, Lavender, Rosemary, Sage, Yarrow
- Perennial, Open Pollinated (OP)
- Plant Spacing: 24 - 30"
