Proof that mint thrives in our PNW climate: Washington produces the most spearmint in the nation and Oregon is the #4 producer.  Let's be honest, mint thrives everywhere, due in particular to the underground rhizomes it sends out.  Plant it in the wrong spot though, and you will regret it more than you regret your outfit choices from the 90's.

Spearmint is a perennial herb that produces clusters of fragrant blooms in the summer and even if you don't harvest it for culinary or medicinal uses, it provides shelter for beneficial insects like spiders, predatory wasps and predatory flies.  Place containers of spearmint strategically around your garden to reap all the benefits!

Like most mints, this plant will grow in pretty much any soil condition, thrives in moist soil and full sun to part shade.
