If you're familiar with the Shishito pepper, then Padron is very similar.  While Shishitos originated in Japan, Padrons come to us from Spain.  Padron peppers are eaten throughout Spain as finger food that's first blistered in hot olive oil, then sprinkled with sea salt and served up, stem and all.  And gosh are they DELICIOUS!

There is more of a chance you could get a hot one tho...ever heard of "Spanish Roulette"?  You know, it's the experience where every so often ish..you might get a blast of heat from a hot pepper, but the others aren't that hot?!  We think the occasional kick of spice is totally worth it with these, the plants are SO prolific and the flavor of the peppers is so goodI!! If the idea of any heat is not your jam, then we recommend you grow Shishitos instead!

These tall, bushy plants are lush and loaded. We've learned early on to pick them young! 1-1.5” is just the right size and seems to ensure that they keep on flowering and flowering and don’t get too hot.

Peppers thrive best in full sun and well-draining, fertile soil.  Mulching around the base of the plant ensures good soil moisture throughout the growing season.  Make sure you give them ample phosphorus and calcium - we love a boost of SeaPhos or something similar. Great for containers!
