Onion, Evergreen Hardy Bunching (Scallion)

Green onions, also called bunching onions or scallions, are one of the easiest onions to grow.  We love using them for garnishes/toppings on baked potatoes, scrambled eggs, dried in a seasoning, and so much more.  

This hardy white bunching onion is highly resistant to freezing and thus may be left in the ground year-round (otherwise known as a perennial).  It produces non-bulbing scallions for bunching.  This variety does not form a bulb and will grow as a perennial clump, which can be divided if desired.  

Onions have very shallow roots, so be sure to keep them evenly moist by mulching at the base of the plant.  Plant them in spring or fall, in full sun.  Harvest as needed once established.  It's been said that onions naturally deter a lot of pests, so we like to plant alliums throughout our garden!
