Cucamelon, Mexican Sour Gherkin

These are the cutest little melons we've ever grown and we absolutely love them.  Cucamelons look like barbie-sized watermelons.  Taste-wise, they resemble a cucumber with slightly citrus undertones.  They're absolutely adorable and delicious.  Delicious in a salads, salsas and cocktails or just pop a few in your mouth for a healthy snack!  Highly recommend snacking on these while walking thru the garden.  

Grow them like you would cucumbers.  They definitely benefit from a trellis, their tendrils will be looking for something to hold onto.  Growing them vertically is great for air circulation and also keeps any pests or diseases at bay, not to mention you save on space and can plant more things below/around the plant!   

Tip: Harvest them when they're about 1" in size.  If they get too big, they will become more bitter.
