Tomato, Sunrise Bumblebee
Tomato, Sunrise Bumblebee
If you were one of our 2022 customers or instagram-admirers, then you should remember the bumblebee cherry tomato we grew! 2022's variety was the Pink Bumblebee, but we're going with the Sunrise Bumblebee for 2024. Who wouldn't want sunrise colors in an adorable cherry tomato plant that's also prolific and crack resistant? (You probably know the answer, but its nobody.)
These slightly oblong cherry tomatoes produce 1-1.5" fruits that are swirls of red, gold and yellow. And you know what else would look beautiful planted next to or around this pretty plant? Oh let's see, Purple Basil (obvi), Zinnias, Rainbow Chard, Stocky Red Roaster Peppers...we could seriously go on. In case you haven't noticed yet, we like to grow plants that are not only beautiful to the eye, but also tasty and of course, pollinator friendly!
The fruits produce a flavor that is bright, sweet and mild with less acid than most tomatoes. Because they are an indeterminate, they will benefit from staking as they can get pretty tall. Definitely container-friendly, we'd recommend a 10-gallon grow bag or pot with drainage holes, at minimum, to keep the roots happy and healthy. Mulch base of plants to ensure good soil moisture all season.
- Days to Harvest: 70-85
