You know with a name like Gold Medal, it is going to be a winner.  This heirloom variety was first introduced in 1921!!   We first fell in love with the gorgeous color--a sunset orange with red marbling, then we fell in love because of the outstanding flavor.  Your burgers or sandwiches will get a serious upgrade with a few slices of Gold Medal tomato!
Gold Medal is an abundant producer of very large, meaty, 1 lb+ fruits.  Gold Medal tomato is big, beautiful and delicious!

Favorite plant color combos:

Gold Medal Tomato + Cardinal Basil
Gold Medal Tomato + Dreamin' Remix Zinnia
Gold Medal Tomato + Stocky Red Roaster Pepper

Tomatoes thrive full sun and well-draining, fertile soil.  Plant the stem deep in the hole (we like to plant ours all the way up to the first set of bottom leaves!) as it makes for a stronger root system - plants will root along any part of the stem that touches the soil.  Amend with compost or worm castings and mulch to ensure good soil moisture for the growing season.  Can definitely be container grown but wherever you plant it, staking is a must!!

  • Days to Maturity: 90
  • Companion Plants: Basil, Borage, Chard, Parsley, Peppers, Sunflowers
  • Open-Pollinated (OP), Heirloom, Indeterminate, Slicer / Beefsteak
  • Plant Spacing: 12 - 24"
