This sugar snap pea variety was bred by renowned vegetable breeder, Dr. Jim Baggett of Oregon State University. Cascadia is a fantastic sugar snap pea! Super productive, best tasting (in our opinions) and very easy to grow.
Growing on 2.5-3' vines, Cascadia produces an early abundance of sweet, plump pods. This variety was bred to have some resistance to powdery mildew. Plants are shorter than other full-vining snap pea varieties but we still recommend some sort of staking. We're partial to cattle panels or teepees made from a few bamboo poles.
Disease resistant. We recommend staking the vines, especially to keep the pests at bay! Great for containers.
Peas like cool weather and should be planted early spring or early fall. Mulch the soil to ensure good moisture retention and soil temperatures.
