If you've ever had (or even heard of) Jamaican Jerk Chicken... then you've had Scotch Bonnet peppers.  Scotch Bonnet peppers have become synonymous with the vibrant food culture of the Caribbean, representing the region’s fiery and bold flavors.

This particular variety has that classic scotch bonnet "hat" shape, but is unique for its larger fruits that ripen to reddish brown, and its slightly smoky flavor.  Chocolate Scotch Bonnets also have more heat than the yellow variety.  The spiciness is comparable to a chocolate habanero. We are in LOVE with this variety for sauces and salsa!

Like other chocolate habanero types, this pepper is extremely productive. Plants generally grow 24-48" in height. Peppers ripen from green to dark brown and can get almost 2" in diameter.

Peppers require full sun and thrive in well-draining, fertile soil.  Mulching at the base of your plants will ensure good soil moisture and retain warmth below the surface all season.
Scoville Heat Units rating of 100,000-350,000 SHU - that puts it in the same line as the Fatalii or any of the Chocolate Habanero types.
