Say hello to Jess' favorite cucumber EVER.  This smooth skinned, long and slender cuke (like an English cuke) is sweet, crisp and juicy with absolutely no bitterness.  Oh and on top of that, its super productive.  Like whoa.

If you're familiar with the more ubiquitous Japanese variety, "Suyo Long", then know this about the Shintokiwa: it's far superior in productivity and uniformity compared to the abovementioned.  Harvest these cukes on the thinner side, but around 9-12" and you will be rewarded with the most delicious taste ever.

We recommend trellising all cukes, this one included, as growing vertical provides better air circulation and helps prevent pest damage and disease.  Plus, when you grow up, then you can also grow more plants beneath.  We call love to grow lettuce, cilantro and parsley underneath, because they all love that afternoon shade the trellising provides above.  Transplant into your garden after the last frost.

  • Days to Maturity: 75
  • Companion Plants: Beans, Borage, Calendula, Cosmos, Lettuce, Nasturtium
  • Open Pollinated (OP)
  • Plant Spacing: 6"
