Holy Basil (Tulsi) is native to India, where it has been a part of the culture since the ancient times, known as "Queen of Herbs." It is considered an adaptogenic herb, with the ability to increase the body's resistance to stress and disease.  Tulsi is one of the best herbs to grow for tea.

It's been called "Nature's Bubblegum".  The flavor is a little fruity with an accent of clove and vanilla, making it seem slightly sweet.  Personally, i like to drink tulsi iced tea in the summer and hot tulsi tea during the other months.  Tulsi is probably one of the few herbal teas I drink literally every week, its that good!

Plants reach 12-24" in height, they have been pinched to encourage side shoots, which encourage a big bushy growth habit.  Harvest the leaves and flowers often, and pinch back blossoms to encourage more vigorous growth.  Leave some flowers for the bees, they absolutely love tulsi! This particular tulsi strain is more cool-weather tolerant than sweet basil.

Tulsi thrives in full sun, well-draining fertile soil and regular moisture (mulching at the base of the plant to ensure soil moisture all season).

  • Days to Harvest: 50 - 60
  • Companion Plants: Calendula, Chard, Lettuce, Kale, Peppers, Tomatoes
  • Open-Pollinated (OP)
