This strain of Italian sweet basil is more cool weather tolerant than other basil varieties. It's also the TOP selling basil variety, year after year! We've found this variety to be an awesome producer in our home gardens. The sweet, rich flavor is similar to other Genovese types. Slow to bolt, but not too slow to make seed. Bees go WILD for this variety!
Favorite plant color combos:
Italian Mtn Sweet Basil + Showstopper Tomato
Italian Mtn Sweet Basil + Speckled Trout Romaine
Italian Mtn Sweet Basil + Tower Chamois Aster
The plants grow 12-18" tall, and will provide several harvests throughout the summer. Basil thrives in well-drained soil, even moisture (via mulching at the base of the plant) and full sun.
All basil seedlings are pinched or "topped" when they're about 4-6" tall. Pinching or topping young basil plants encourages side shoots, making them bushier and more productive. Bushy + beautiful...just see for yourself!
- Days to Maturity: 65
